Prosciuttificio Bea srl, Parma
Inkiostro Bianco wallpapers in an unusual project related to the production of Parma ham.
Bea srl is a family-run company that was established in the 1990s on the initiative of Pietro Beatrizzotti and his wife Elide. Pietro, after having gained thirty years of experience in the production of Parma ham, decides to build his own salumificio (salami factory) and follows all its realisation with passion. In the following years, Pietro and Elide were joined by their daughter Rita and grandchildren Luca and Beatrice to carry the company forward through the generations.
The purpose of the project is to construct a new building consisting of: a productive section, connected to an already existing building, an extension of the existing offices and staff services, a room for receiving guests, a tasting room and accessory rooms. The project stems from the comparison with a reality of strong visual impact and with a typical character of the industrial/prefabricated buildings of the 80s and 90s in the Parma area.
The architectural composition of the building is very simple, we worked on the scansion and position of the windows, taking up the ventilation concept of the old ham factories, giving the building a continuity between tradition and the projection towards new technologies. Internally, a simple and functional layout was proposed that respected that transition between the past and modernity that can be seen from the outside. So totally open and usable spaces, where a lot of work was done with furniture, lighting and cladding. According to Rita Beatrizzotti:
Our aim has always been to create offices in which it would be pleasant to work and, at the same time, environments in which our customers could feel welcome and at ease.
Arch. Cantadori, who oversaw the entire project and with whom we have always been on the same wavelength, fully understood our needs and proposed the use of wallpaper. The choice turned out to be an excellent one. In fact, its use helped to make the rooms welcoming for us and our customers.
A ham factory is certainly not an environment where one expects to find wallpaper coverings. they wanted to create extremely elegant and very comfortable spaces to work in. These people spend most of their time, including social and family interactions, within these spaces. For this reason, the use of wallpaper combined with a certain type of furniture and an excellent lighting arrangement made it possible to create work spaces but with a marked welcoming character that gives an idea of a domestic space.
Wallpapers, therefore, contribute to giving a sense of style to those who live in the space, enriching it with an additional narrative that unfolds on the walls, making it unique.
