B&B Gardi Luxury apartments, Bologna

Palazzo Scappi and the adjacent Scappi Tower occupy a place of honour in the historic centre of Bologna. It is a 17th-century palace that belonged to the city's aristocracy and is located at the top of Via Indipendenza, a few steps from Piazza del Nettuno. Over the years, the apartments were rented out and became a residence for the many students attending the University of Bologna, one of the oldest universities in Italy.

The passing of the years, however, made conservative renovation work necessary to preserve the structure. Hence the decision of the third generation of the owner family to invest in the renovation of the historic building with renovation and regeneration works.

A mechanical body was added and from 5 flats from the renovation, 2 more were obtained for a total of 7 flats.

This intervention creates an interesting contrast between the ancient character of the location and the interiors in which the client chose to use mainly high-end furniture and elements. It thus becomes an accommodation facility intended for a luxury clientele seeking both the comfort of being in the city centre and a contemporary style.

The decision to include Inkiostro Bianco's wallpapers in the project stems from the client's personal taste and the desire to create a harmonious environment with an original character as paintings on the walls. In particular, a decoration was chosen with an unusual subject by Karen Knorr, requested from the artist specifically for the project, placed at the entrance of the B&B and welcoming guests to the ancient building. The image is visible on Via Indipendenza, arousing curiosity and attracting the gaze of passers-by.

The wallpapers embellish the rooms, giving warmth and sophistication to the whole project.
